In Catania, at the Museo Civico di Castello Ursino, Ferdinando Scianna\u2019s exhibition opens to the public on 23rd June 2023. A selection of more than 80 black and white photographs will be highlighting the close bond that unites Ferdinando Scianna to Sicily, his homeland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sicily is mentioned in the title Ti ricordo, Sicilia (I Remember You, Sicily), as well as in the subjects portrayed in the photographs that take us through the places, rituals, festivities and customs of this land so dear to the photographer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition also features portraits of Marpessa \u2013 one of the artist\u2019s muses \u2013 immortalised on Sicilian soil, thus going back to the beginnings of Scianna\u2019s career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The layout and selection of photographs have been specially designed for the Castello Ursino venue. Video and graphic displays celebrate the relationship between the land of Sicily and the great Sicilian photographer.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/article>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ferdinando Scianna\u2019s Exhibition at Museo Civico di Castello Ursino<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On 23rd June, in the monumental rooms of the Ursino Castle in Catania, the great Ferdinando Scianna exhibition Ti ricordo Sicilia (I Remember You Sicily) opens to the public. It is curated by Paola Bergna and Alberto Bianda, Art Director, promoted by the Municipality of Catania and the Museo Civico di Castello Ursino, and produced by Civita Sicilia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A selection of more than 80 photographs will be on display printed in different formats and spanning the entire career of this great Sicilian photographer. The exhibition follows an articulated narrative path, built on different sections and various modes of arranging Scianna\u2019s black and white photographs to best<\/p>\n\n\n\n

highlight the close bond that unites him to his homeland. Ti ricordo, Sicilia (I Remember You, Sicily) is a true journey during which visitors will get to know and explore the land so dear to Ferdinando Scianna, through subjects, images, places, rituals, festivities and customs portrayed in his photographs.<\/p>\n\n\n\nRead more<\/span>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition begins with a homage to his hometown, Bagheria, ready to celebrate its famous son on the occasion of his eightieth birthday, which will fall on 4th July, followed by the photographs dedicated to Marpessa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
